Ikea TRYSIL Dresser makeover inspired by One Kings Lane Campaign dresser

Before I found the wide dresser on craigslist, I bought Ikea Trysal dresser. I loved the size of the dresser and the different looking feet made me love it all the more.

This is how an Ikea Trysil dresser looks like. (Pic Source Ikea Webpage)

I was planning to wrap the dresser in fabric until I saw this beautiful campaign dresser from one kings lane.

Love the color and the golden accent, but not the price. It is on 30% off sale now for 699 (original price 999). There was no way I would have purchased this :)

Here is my version inspired by the above dresser.

Here is a how to :

Assembled the dresser.

Taped the drawer fronts

I tried sanding down, but the veneer is so thin, I was worried that I would peel it off. Also had another failed attempt with citristrip stripper, that also didnt help me much. Applied the zinsser primer.

After the primer was dry, sanded a bit. Here it is after one coat.

I also spray painted the stand and the drawer pulls

After two coats of paint and poly. I still have to apply the poly on first drawer. I was in a rush to finish off the assembly by Saturday evening as I had few guests coming over.
