One Room Challenge Week 6 : Mini Reveal

Hello,

I totally agree that I took bigger bite than I can chew this time. I got super busy with volunterring at Sadguru Program and also for local community, with crazy work hours, it became hard. But hey, I am glad I started this, atleast room is in much better shape than it was before. But I promise I will finish off soon to show off the room.

Here it is

I tried again and again I ended up with checkers :( I am still hopeful that I will convert this to plaid soon

I am super proud of these shibori curtains, i made using a flat sheet.

One Room Challenge Week 5 : What just happened? Setbacks and progress

Welcome to 5th week of ORC. Just one more week to go and there are wayyy too many things to accomplish and I am running way behind.

Good Things first

1. Curtains have arrived, rods have been installed and all ready to be hing. Pom poms add a nice touch to the curtians and luckily the pompom color is similar to our accent color.

2. Her closet is almost done and the malm dressers got a no paint makeover. Seriously this was one of the simplest projects and I absolutely heart it.

We decided to go with the curtains for the closet instead of the bifold doors.

One more shot.

3. We are working on a tie and dye project as we speak
4. Hopefully hubs will install some shelving
5. DIY chandelier is coming along well and Little missy has been helping me with that.

Now onto major setback :( our accent wall. This one has taken soo much of my time. I feel I have spent more time on ladder in taping and sealing the tape than actually painting. Then finally when I thought everything is done, I ended up with checkered wall not the buffalo pattern as I intended.

This is a big bummer as I am already stressed out with too many half done projects (nope not just for ORC, other projects I am working on for two community events)

Here it is. Little one has been seeing me running all over and being a sweatheart that she is, she says she loved it. But I know her, the sparkle was missing in those beautiful eyes when said that.

Now I am again back to taping and painting over. This momma is ready to dive deep into the week 6 to finish atleasts few more projects if not finish the room entirely!!

Thanks for stopping by, go here to check what my fellow challenge participants achieved in the past 5 weeks. Good luck to my fellow challenge bloggers, you got this!

Big Girls Room Overhaul - ORC Week 2

Hi All,

Welcome back to week2 of ORC.

After lot of back and forth, we were finally able to decide on the plan and Order few things. Man, I have a tough client, I am now worried that whether I will be able to meet the expectation of my first client :D

Other than ordering few essentials for the makeover and deciding on the plan, I havnt even started any work in the room. Hopefully I will be able to get my hands dirty this weekend.

DD doesnt want to change the wall color from Pink family. Wall behind the bed will painted in my favorite Gingham pattern while rest of the room will get a fresh coat of existing pink. it was really tough convincing her to try this pattern. Finally she fell in love with the color combination in this spoon flower wallpaper.

DD fell in love with these drapes, waiting to see them in person.

Closet will hopefully get a bifold door. I am looking for something which can also offer some storage  behind the door. If I dont find some thing taht we both agree upon, plan B is up the sleeve.

She wants a Ombre gallary wall on the wall opposite to bed with some thing for storage. So that we can get rid of the dresser. I love what Elsei and Emma did over abeautifulmess

We are planning to DIY this chandelier

I am all pumped up with her selection and cant wait to start on these.

Take a moment to check out the other amazing guest participants, I am sure you will find lot of inspiration.

Thanks,

One Room Challenge Fall 2018 - Week 1 Before

Welcome people!! I am back after a loooong hiatus!! It is that time of the year again when one room challenge fever hits the bloggers!! This year has been crazy personally; blogging and home decor took a back seat. What's better than this 6 weeks challenge to get this momma out of hibernation!

I have participated in Spring 2016 and Spring 2017 ORC which resulted in two beautiful room makeovers.

After some serious competition between the kitchen/family room, guest bedroom and daughter's bedroom, dear daughters room emerged as the winner. We did her room over many moons ago when she was a toddler.  It has good bones, nicely lit and slightly larger than her brother room. Since DD is a middle schooler now it's high ime her room reflects true her: fun loving, charming, happy go lucky, chatterbox, kind hearted, heart and soul of our family.

Here is how her room looks today.

Bed was part of bunk bed in its last form which went thru transformation.

Desk and dresser is hand me over from her brother which were craigslist buys. Desk went thru transformation  (read here) and dresser stayed as is. That Night stand (??) has been with us forever, time to bid a good bye.

Here is the plan for the next 5 weeks.
- Paint over, move away from pink but keep the bead board wainscotting (read here)
- Closet doors. I hated the sliding doors she had. When I did her closet (read here) last year I threw those away. Though she is organized, I need to cover these. May be Curtains or the bi-fold doors?
- May be bigger bed if budget permits
- Corner Desk
- Floating Shelves
- Curtains for the window
- Chandelier
- bulletin board

Cant wait to get my hands dirty!! Now off to callling it Home and check out all other amazing guest bloggers participating in this challenge. Its all overload of inspiration out there.

Be sure to stop by next thursday to check out my progress.
